Classroom Training Course

Duration: 8 Hours
 

What's Included:

• This course is structured to suit your needs. All the topics in the AAP 20 conditions are covered and all course paperwork is completed including the Green Forms.

• Our high staff ratio at classroom training sessions of 1 member of staff per 2 groups (so maximum of 14 participants) allows for attention to detail at the planning stage.

• All the detailed route planning and associated subjects covered in the training course are backed up with hand-out materials.

Practice Expedition

Duration: 5 days, 4 nights

What's included:

• All personal and group expedition equipment is provided for participants. This ensures that all the equipment used is appropriate and of high quality.

• Expeditions are supervised day and night by Mountainwise staff. Practise expeditions are staffed at a ratio of 1 member of staff per group (maximum of 7 participants).

• Expedition Format is as follows:
  - The first day will be spent preparing for the expedition.
  - The following four days will be practice days.
  - Two days will be spent wild camping.
  - On the last day the group will be given a debrief and a chance to reflect on the expedition experience
  
  
   

• All food and camping equipment is provided for any attending teachers.

• Campsite fees and fuel costs are also included in the price.

• Participants are to provide their own maps and food.

• Transport to and from the expedition is not provided.

Where:
Gold practice expeditions take place in the Peak District.

The participants will be met by Mountainwise staff at Edale Train Station. The participants will be escorted on a short walk from Edale Train Station to Edale campsite to begin the expedition.

Assessment Expedition

Duration: 4 days, 4 nights

What's included:
 

• All personal and group expedition equipment is provided for participants.

• Expeditions are supervised day and night by Mountainwise staff. Assessment expeditions are staffed at a ratio of 1 member of staff per 2 groups (maximum 14 participants).

• We have over 30 DofE accredited assessors allowing for staff continuity though out the practice and assessment expeditions.

• All food and camping equipment is provided for attending teachers.

• Campsite fees and fuel costs are also included in the price.

• Transport to and from the expedition is not provided
   

Where:
Gold assessment expeditions take place in North Wales.

The participants will be met by Mountainwise staff at Llandudno Junction Train Station. We use a variety of campsites in the area depending on the routes the participants chose to follow. Participants will return to London from Llandudno Junction Train Station.
